What is narrative?

Narrative is an interdisciplinary topic — which means people study narrative from many disciplines including literature, communications, psychology, cognitive science and medicine.
The definition of narrative began as simply “an account of related events, or a story” — but it has expanded over time as narrative has been applied to other disciplines — like communications in the storytelling boom.

The storytelling boom began with the rise of digital media and Web 2.0 — which made it easy to tell stories to online audiences — and led to the emergence of strategic storytelling as a communications norm, sitting at the intersection of Communications and Literature & Narrative.
