The History of Story Generation in Digital Game with Prof. Youichiro Miyake

In his ARDIN Voices talk, Prof. Miyake will trace the long history of story generation in games - from grand overarching narratives down to the smaller, emergent stories that unfold within gameplay itself.
Prof. Youichiro Miyake is a project professor of Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), the University of Tokyo. For the past twenty years, he has been developing AI for digital games as an AI Technical Director in the game industry, while simultaneously researching game AI technologies as a Lead AI Researcher at a digital game company. He developed the technical design of AI for games such as CHROME HOUNDS, Demon's Souls, Armored Core V, FINAL FANTASY XIV, and FINAL FANTASY XV. He is also a board member of Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) JAPAN and a chair of SIG-AI in Japan Chapter, International Game Developers Association (IGDA Japan) from 2006 to present. He researches the technical design of combination of smart city and metaverse by using game AI system “Meta-Character-Spatial AI dynamic cooperative model”.
